The Yaesu FT-710 will cover 160-6 meters with 100 watts output. There are two other variants: the FT-710M and FT-710S which are the Japanese market 50 and 10 watt versions respectively. In terms of availability, DX-World reports that it’s scheduled to be released in late August 2022 and the price is still unknown.Budget is £1500ish. The only drawbacks I could find are the scope dynamic range and the average of the FFT spectrum. The following comparison between the FTDX10 and IC-7300 shows some of the disadvantages of the FTDX10. Figure 19 tells it all. Attached (at the bottom of this page) is my comparison sheet FTDX10 vs. IC-7300, if you like you can distribute it.The dials are in better places now on the 710, for example. I like my FTDX10 but don't use all the features and wish it had better ergonomics, and was a bit cheaper. So the 710 sounds good. At least as good as a 7300. It's no hybrid but it is a newer SDR design. Only downside is Icom have superior menus in my opinion.Here is Rob's initial Lab Test of the new FT-710 after just a few days of testing it. There have been several firmware updates with the FT-710 that have addressed initial release bugs and current pricing would make it a very tempting holiday gift for someone. The shift knob on FTDX10 is way too fine, though, if you turn it 90 degrees either side the shift value is some 50-60Hz only, so you need to keep turning that knob a lot.Sadly my only complaint on the ftdx10 was a single antenna input. I wish it had a rx antenna input, it’s light years better then my 991a and much better audio out, my 991a would splatter the upper when Tx on lsb.
